Superconducting Characteristics of Nb3Sn Cables Stranded with Ultra-fine Wires

چکیده

We are developing A15 cables made of ultra-fine wires for react-and-wind (R&W) magnet technology. Recently, we fabricated a bronze processed multifilament Nb3Sn wire with diameter 50 µm. also prototype cable by stranding 19 testing. In this study, the transport critical current(Ic) was measured at 4.2 K and under an external field up to 18 T. The Non-Cu current density(Jc) calculated from Ic results. For measurements, wound on glass fiber reinforced plastic(GFRP) cylinder bobbins after heat treatment in straight geometry replicate R&W process. Four GFRP different diameters were prepared investigate bending limit cable. temperature(Tc) magnetization properties magnetic property measurement system Quantum Design.

A Loss Measurement System in a Test Facility for High-current Superconducting Cables and Wires

The realisation of a 7 tesla/25 kA test facility for measuring the critical current density and the quench propagation velocity of high-current superconductors has already been reported [11. The test volume in this set-up is torus-shaped having a diameter of 0.2 m and a cross-section of 5 cm2. The test facility has been equipped with a set of AC coils and pick-up coils in order to perform AC lo...

Superconductor: WIRES AND CABLES: MATERIALS AND PROCESSES

The phenomenon of superconductivity was first observed in 1912 in the laboratory of Heike Kamerlingh Onnes, at the University of Leiden (Holland). At low temperatures certain materials (about 800 superconducting compounds have been recently tabulated by Poole and Farch, 2000) suddenly lose their resistance to the flow of electricity on cooling. The phenomenon remained a laboratory curiosity unt...

Normal domains in Rutherford-type superconducting cables

We study the formation and dynamics of normal domains in Rutherford-type superconducting cables. We use an effective circuit model to account for the electric current redistribution process between the multifilamentary strands in the presence of a normal zone. We obtain and integrate numerically the diffusion equations for the temperature and the current-density distributions in the cable. Our ...

AC loss in large-scale superconducting cables

The ac losses in superconducting composites have been a subject of study for a long time, but nevertheless several problems remain to be solved, especially with respect to large-scale cables where the geometry of the cable plays an important role. Some of the aspects that will be considered here, are: presence of fields parallel with the conductor, coupling loss in composite conductors having v...

From Wires to Cables: Attempted Synthesis of 1,3,5-Trifluorenylcyclohexane as a Platform for Molecular Cables.

Multiple molecular wires braided together in a single assembly, termed as molecular cable, are promising next-generation materials for effective long-range charge transport. As an example of the platform for constructing molecular cables, 1,3,5-trifluorenylcyclohexane (TFC) and its difluorenyl analogues (DFCs) were systematically investigated both experimentally (X-ray crystallography) and theo...
